Dr. Mandell was born in Massachusetts and grew up just north of Boston in the town of Reading. Dr. Mandell completed her undergraduate degree in Biology at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, NH, and her Doctorate of Dental Medicine at Boston University. Upon graduation, she entered the United States Army as a Dental Officer through the Health Professional Scholarship Program. Dr. Mandell served as a General Dentist for 4 years at Fort Gordon, GA prior to completing a 2-year residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at Fort Bragg, NC where she also earned her master’s degree in oral biology from the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences.
After completion of her residency, she was stationed at Fort Hood and served with the 11th Field Hospital as well as the Fort Hood Dental Activity. She was activated to New York City during the start of the COVID 19 Pandemic and assisted with the creation of an electronic health record for the Javits Medical Station. Upon return to Fort Hood, she became Officer-In-Charge of a 30-chair dental clinic, managing treatment for around 8,000 Soldiers. In February 2021, she deployed to Baghdad, Iraq and served as the Chief of Dentistry for the US Military Hospital.
She recently transitioned out of active-duty military service and has decided to call central Texas home. In her free time, Dr. Mandell enjoys working out, hiking and trying out new restaurants around the area.
