Starches are refined carbohydrates, which means they break down into simple sugar. While many people like to chew on ice, it isn’t the most tooth-friendly option. Chewing ice can cause tooth fractures and wear down enamel over time. Ice’s freezing temperature and hard nature make it a nemesis for tooth health. If you have a habit of chewing ice, try to choose small soft cubed ice or crushed ice to minimize dental damage.
